19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a challenging season, managing just one match at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-term coach his previous coach.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's first championship since the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface after spring of 2023.

Success also signifies he has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a trophy is really nice," stated ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, including in Halle previously this season.

The player's defensive strategy and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and play assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the final five games to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his first professional championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet rescued 4 initial break points in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
